bird walk

On July 16, the Cameron County Recreation Center, Lumber Heritage Region and CCOYA offered a Bird Walk program along the Rails to Trails. There were 12 young birders that participated in the walk. We also enjoyed a Habitat / Bird Search Scavenger Hunt. Along the way, we met up with Steve Manginell of Lumber Heritage Region who talked about some interesting and educational Cameron County History. Steve talked about the old Sylvania site and the old airport site that is now GKN Plant 6. We ended our day with an outside pizza lunch on the Rails to Trails. It is great being able to start up some programing for the young people again, even though we have to abide by certain guidelines.
