This year 8 youth hunters were selected to participate in the annual youth doe hunt. The hunters were each given 2 DMAP tags and the option to purchase a bear tag. If the young hunters were lucky enough to harvest a doe the meat would be donated to Hunters Sharing the Harvest, if a second deer is harvested the hunter has the option to donate or keep the meat for their family. Hunters Sharing the Harvest is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit that coordinates the processing and distribution of donated venison to hungry people throughout Pennsylvania. For more information on Hunters Sharing the Harvest visit their website at www.sharedeer.org. This year the young hunters harvested 8 deer and 7 of those were donated to Hunters Sharing the Harvest creating over 1,400 servings of venison. Congratulations to all the successful hunters!
